What Is Desert Trip?

Clear your calendars for October 7, 8, and 9 OR October 14, 15, and 16 of 2016 because Desert Trip is happening.

What is Desert Trip?

Desert Trip is the newest festival brought to you by the founders of Coachella, and it seems like it will change your life. It features the music styles of the amazing Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, and The Who.

Neil Young shared the announcement video on his Facebook and I thought it was a prank—it seemed too good to be true. I checked my calendar to make sure it wasn’t April Fools Day and was delighted to realize that was over a month ago. Since the announcement, Desert Trip has expanded into two weekends instead of one, based on demand. It’s really no surprise that both weekends are completely SOLD OUT.

There will be no supporting acts for this newly iconic festival. Because of this, it will allow the artists more time to do full concert sets rather than shortened festival sets. Not only that, but since there’s only six iconic acts, I assume there is going to be some crazy on-stage collaborations. Keep an eye out for any pictures or videos that may hint any type of collaboration among these acts.

You’re all in for quite the weekend.

What does the schedule look like?

The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan are kicking off the 3-day festival.
The Rolling Stones are known as one of the greatest bands of all time and have been icons in the rock ‘n’ roll scene since they were formed in 1962.
Then there is Bob Dylan, who has a much softer sound with his political, philosophical, and poetic lyrics and hits like “Like a Rolling Stone” and “The Times They Are A-Changin.” Fun fact: The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan have collaborated on-stage before where they performed “Like a Rolling Stone.” I hope to see this again!

Paul McCartney and Neil Young (with Promise of the Real) will keep things rolling on day two of the festival.
Paul McCartney was originally a part of the legendary band, The Beatles, but also another band called Wings. Both bands were successful, just like his solo career now. I’ve seen him twice in concert and each time has been life changing for me.
Neil Young is a Canadian singer-songwriter who brought us “Heart of Gold.” Being a Canadian Trender, I found myself most excited about seeing his name on the lineup. He is performing with Promise of the Real as his backing band, an American rock group, whom of which two of the members are Willie Nelson’s sons.

Roger Waters and The Who will be the two acts that will bring Desert Trip to a close.
Roger Waters is best known as the co-founder of the well-known group, Pink Floyd.
As for The Who, they don’t need an introduction… partly because they are one of the most influential rock groups of all time and have sold over 100 million records worldwide AND because we did so here. Two perfect choices to finish off the nostalgic weekend.

Desert Trip is a dream come true for many and the ultimate item to cross off your bucket list. Who knew we’d have the chance to see all of these iconic artists perform. This is going to be an exciting weekend filled with memories.

Come back here to check up on any updates regarding Desert Trip! This is the festival you can’t miss.
