Colleen Hoover is easily one of my favorite authors. I discovered her books a few months ago through some friends, and I’ve been hooked ever since! She writes in a genre called “New Adult” and from my understanding, it’s a newer genre that many more authors are starting to explore. Colleen is a best-selling author since her first book Slammed was published in 2012. I’ve haven’t read that yet and a few other of her books, but the ones I have read are truly something else.
Ugly Love is the first book by Colleen that I read. My friend recommended it so I figured I’d give it a shot. I was completely blown away by the writing and the story line, and I found myself falling in love with Miles Archer. I really felt something for Miles and Tate, and I was very intrigued with how things played out with their relationship. I would easily rate this book 5/5 and it was even my favorite book by this author, but that’s since changed.
After reading Ugly Love I needed more Colleen in my life so purchased Confess on Amazon about fifteen minutes after finishing. This book is a solid 4.5/5, but I almost felt like it was missing a little something. This book really brought you into the mind of Auburn Reed, and I very much liked Owen Gentry, but I just needed a little more. I would 100% recommend this book and will definitely be rereading it sometime in the future but I think a novella of their relationship after the book would give me that something I feel is missing. Who knows, maybe it’s a new project Colleen will look into?
Maybe Someday is definitely my favorite Colleen Hoover book. It begins with Sydney finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend, and she finds comfort and friendship in her neighbor Ridge. The way everything plays out is just truly something else, and there’s even a few parts that had me laughing uncontrollably. This story is really unique, and there’s something we learn pretty early on that I was not expecting.
A noteworthy part of this book is there is a soundtrack to listen to while reading! I personally read it once without the soundtrack, and the second time I read, I made sure to listen to the songs as they come up in this book. If you want to listen to the soundtrack to get a feel for the book, you can listen here. This book also has a spin-off titled Maybe Not which is available as an e-book, but I’ll be reading it when it comes out in December in paperback!
What I’m trying to say is that Colleen’s books are a must-read! I’m really looking forward to reading her Hopeless series and the Slammed series as I’ve heard nothing but great things about them. Each story of hers I’ve read holds a special place in my heart, and I’m excited to read more!
