RED ALERT. RED ALERT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
The moment you’ve been been waiting for, even if you didn’t realize you were waiting for it (but really you knew all along you were waiting for it) is FINALLY here!!! Gilmore Girls is reportedly returning to us and it’s all thanks to Netflix. Ummm…I’ve only been dreaming of this for the last 85 years. Oh, it hasn’t been that long? It certainly feels like it. Anyways, I love you Netflix. You are my hero.
Stars Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) and Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), along with some other of our favorite cast members including Scott Patterson (Luke) and Kelly Bishop (Emily), are possibly returning to Stars Hollow for four 90 minute mini movies. I’m almost as excited as when Luke and Lorelai finally got together. Oops…SPOILER if you’re a new fan. Sorry.
I’ve spent my time since the Gilmore Girls series finale concocting a list of things I thoroughly expected to see if they ever came back for a reunion. Now that we know dreams do come, I will share a few of those things with you:
Luke and Lorelai finally got married and have adorable, caffeine addicted, backwards baseball cap wearing twin boys. Lorelei had a minor panic attack when she found out she was having boys, but she consoled herself by deciding to name them Simon and Garfunkel. Luke put up a fight, but all Lorelai had to do was say, “please, please, please,” over and over again until he caved.
Luke stubbornly puts up with Lorelai and Rory’s One Direction obsession. Lorelei is partial to Harry, while Rory is more of a Liam girl. One time, Lorelai tried to get Luke to wear a pair of black skinny jeans and Chelsea boots. He refused to talk to her for the rest of the day.
There are an inappropriate amount of Game of Thrones references.
Taylor has created 47 new town positions for himself since we last saw him. He’s going for supreme power.
Much to Lorelai’s dismay, Emily has moved to Stars Hollow to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Lorelei keeps the sarcasm to a minimum though because she knows her mother needs this after the death of Richard. *insert several crying face emojis* Meanwhile, Emily can’t resist whining about the tacky small town lifestyle, but really she secretly loves it.
Miss Patty and Babette have started a Senior’s Dance Troupe and are currently still trying to recruit Emily. Emily continues to refuse. Kirk keeps trying to join in her place. He has submitted several applications.
Lastly and most importantly because really this is the biggest reason everyone wants a reunion in the first place…
Rory and Jess will finally come together because we all know they are the ultimate OTP…after Luke and Lorelai obvi.
If you feel like reliving the awesomeness that is Gilmore Girls or are living under a rock and have never watched it before (Really? Shame on you), you can catch up on all 7 seasons on Netflix.
