Welcome to another installment of The Internet! Barb, our resident roundup maven is out enjoying a springtime vacay, so I’ve been left in charge of your internet hopes, dreams and needs this week. Don’t worry, I got you.
Over the past few days, spring weather hit NYC and you can feel the mood of curiosity and adventure at Trendom HQ. The change from winter to spring always makes me eager for new things. It’s a season of revitalization. Lucky for me (and you), the internet delivered plenty of fresh this week in one of my favorite mediums: music.
Drowners released new song “Cruel Ways” on March 2. On Desire, their second album, is set to be released on June 24 and is available now for preorder. On Wednesday night, Drowners had a free show here in NYC to debut some of their new songs. I was lucky enough to catch about 5 songs and I like what I hear so far!
ZAYN surprised us all with the complete track list of his first album, Mind of Mine, and also released “Like I Would.” It’s a catchy, up beat dance number and it was exactly what I needed to push me over the edge and hit that pre-order button on iTunes. Zayn is very talented vocally and I’m excited to see how he explores that more in his solo debut.
I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful, Yet So Unaware Of It is now available on Spotify. I haven’t taken it off repeat since it was released February 26th, in fact I’m listening to it right now. ILIWYSFYASBYSUOI is currently holding the record for longest album title to hit number 1 on the Billboard charts. Also it’s number 1 on the charts, so congrats to The 1975.
The 1975 also held a pop up shop in NYC the same day their new album released. This was an AMAZING experience. I loved being able to mingle with the band and talk about their favorite parts of the new album. Now that the album is out, I am anxiously awaiting the US tour dates!
This week also marks the beginning of SXSW 2016. Austin, Texas is buzzing with musicians, music fans and media culture junkies ready to experience the whirlwind of happenings over the next several days and nights. We have our eyes (and ears) on the ground for you, so stay tuned for our highlights as the week unfolds!
Recent college graduate and trying to put my fangirling to good use. I spend all my free time on Tumblr and all my money on concerts. I love music of all kinds, traveling, the city life, Instagram and One Direction.
