The Choice by Nicholas Sparks is easily one of the best books I’ve read in 2015. This book made me feel so many emotions, and it’s completely enthralling. Without giving away any spoilers, there were two parts of the story that slightly annoyed me, but I was full-on sobbing for fifty pages so I figured that made up for it. I love it when books make me cry so hard I need to stop reading, and The Choice does just that.
This book is set in a small-town in North Carolina and follows the life of Travis Parker. Travis has a great job and group of friends, and a love for adventure. His next door neighbor Gabby Holland has a problem with him from the start, but Travis does everything in his power for her to be friendly to him. The story continues and at this point you want to pull your hair out from everything that’s happening. When things finally settle down, Part I of the book ends.
Part II of the book picks up eleven years later, when Travis is faced with a seemingly impossible decision. Again I don’t want to spoil anything, but this is where the tears will start. This unimaginable situation will pull at your heartstrings, and make you think about what you would do in this situation.
I would rate this book 5/5 and I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone! I’m normally not a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks’ books, but this is definitely a diamond in the rough. I believe there is going to be a movie adaptation coming out in 2016, so if you’re not a reader, definitely look out for that!
