Lipstick is my absolute favorite accessory. On days where I do my makeup, I never leave the house without some sort of color on my lips. Here are my recommendations for what essentials every makeup lover should have in their vanity!
I feel like the most obvious, and probably the most owned, is a good neutral pink color. I have a lot of pinks, ranging from dark to light, but there are two that stand out the most to me. One of my first lipsticks, MAC’s Lipstick in Creme Cup, is still one of my all time favorites. It is the perfect light pink that goes well with any makeup look.
My second go-to pink is NYX’s Matte Lipstick in Natural. It’s a bit darker and more blue-toned, but it is a gorgeous color and gorgeous finish.
Nude lips are tricky for me. I have very fair skin and most nude colors tend to wash me out and make me look crazy. Recently though, I’ve found a darker nude that I actually love with my skin. NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi is the perfect dark nude color and it seems to go well with all skin colors.
A Darker Pop
As I’ve been getting into makeup more and more, I’ve been branching out of my comfort zone to play with darker colors. Since then I’ve begun to wear this Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve almost every day this winter! I love this line of lip stains because they stay on all day, even after eating and drinking, and this color is the perfect shade of mauve.
The Perfect Red
The perfect red is just as tricky to find as the perfect nude. I now own a bunch of red colors after test driving them, and NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo is my favorite. If you’re fair skinned like myself, I think it looks wonderful, although I’m sure it looks just as amazing on darker skin tones!
A Winter Party Hue
My go-to for winter parties and gatherings where I want to be a bit different is this Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry. It’s a super dark berry color and it’s so fun to play around with different looks using this shade!
Bright and Bold
Although I love the winter months, I’m extremely excited for the spring time. I feel like its easier to pull of bright and bold lip colors, like this Revlon Balm Stain in Cherish. I haven’t totally started going super bold, but this color is an easy way to transition from nude pink to bright, bubblegum pink. I also love the finish because it feels like lip balm on your lips while giving you the perfect stain of color (hence the name “balm stain”).
I hope anyone reading this gets some inspiration to start or add to your own lipstick collection. Be sure to tweet us at @trendomco if you try out any of these lip colors!
