Healthy Fangirl: 5 Tips For Clear Skin

Clear skin is something EVERYONE wants. Doesn’t it just put you in a good mood to see your face glowing and blemish free? It puts me in a good mood for sure. When I break out, there are a few things that I do to get my skin back to looking great.

1. If you don’t need to wear makeup, don’t.

Sometimes your skin just needs to breathe and feel the fresh air. Always having foundation or powder on doesn’t allow that. So if you’re just chilling out at home, don’t wear any makeup. If you’re just going to the store to grab a few things, don’t wear any makeup. Sometimes it’s easier said than done if you’re self-conscious about your spots, but it’s really not a big deal. It took me a while to learn that.

2. H2O

Water is the most important thing for not only a healthy complexion, but a healthy body too. Drinking loads of water helps you flush the toxins from food out of your body. Plus, it helps your skin stay hydrated and glowing and who doesn’t want that?

3. Stop touching and picking!

This is probably the most obvious, yet hardest, tip to achieve a clearer complexion. Admittedly, I struggle with this everyday. It can be so hard to resist popping a zit, but try your hardest to LEAVE IT ALONE. When I pop zits, my face is red and irritated and sadly there’ll usually be a bruise-like mark left in its place. It takes awhile for these dark marks to fade and they really suck, so just LEAVE YOUR FACE ALONE. Don’t touch it with your dirty, germ infested hands. Don’t poke at it and don’t pick at your pimples. If you MUST pop pimples, there are proper ways to do so. Here is one of my favorite methods!

4. Wash your makeup off every night!

You’d be surprised at the amount of people who don’t wash their makeup off every night. It’s tragic, really. Your pores are being clogged all day long with your makeup, don’t damage them any further by sleeping with your makeup on, too. Yes, I get it, sometimes you’re exhausted and the last thing you want to do is spend time washing your face. Really, I get it. I’ve been there so many times. But you have to let your skin breathe any chance you get! Take your makeup off right when you get home from school or work, apply your moisturizer and bam! You just got it out of the way and now you don’t have to worry about it later on when you’re cozy in bed.

5. Clean up your diet.

Ah, often the most dreaded tip for some. Junk food isn’t good for you, your body or your complexion. It doesn’t mean that you can’t indulge in that piece of pizza or bowl of ice cream on occasion, but it does mean that those occasions are better left few and far between. My skin looks so much better when I make sure to eat healthily. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains have so many vitamins and minerals that are good for you and your skin. Ever heard that really cheesy saying about your body being a temple and it should only be fed the best and highest quality foods? Well, regardless of how cheesy that may sound, it’s true. Feed your body the good, healthy stuff and it will start to show. You’ll thank me and yourself for following through with this tip in due time.

These are my five easiest and simplest steps to getting the clear complexion you desire.  Seriously, start doing these things right away. It pays off. If you have any other tips you’d like to share, please tweet us or comment below!
