#FreshmanFangirl: Holiday Gift Guide on a College Budget

Ahhhh, the beginning of December, a time of increased stress, annoying breakouts, lots of caffeine, lack of sleep, and lots and lots of finals. The first 15 days of Christmas are usually not very jolly for college students across the world. If you’re enduring your first week of finals, I feel for you. I would say it gets better, but it really doesn’t, you just get more used to it. But soon enough it’ll all be over and you’ll be headed home for the holidays!

With that being said, you probably don’t have a lot of time to think about Christmas gifts, or a lot of money to go all-out this year. (I know I don’t have either of those things!). Never fear, Trendom’s #FreshmanFangirl series is here to give you great ideas for last-minute, budget-friendly gift ideas perfect for the people special to you in your life. Check them out:

  • Ulta Travel Sized Loot
    • Grab a few of her favorite things from the travel-sized section at Ulta! These are usually way cheaper, and are perfect Christmas gifts for your girlfriends.
  • DIY Bath Bombs

For your mom…

"Santa's Secret Stuff" (R-L) Rory (Alexis Bledel) returns from London after the holidays. Lorela (Lauren Graham) is disappointed that Rory celebrated Christmas in London with Logan, but decides to have a ÒChristmas after ChristmasÓ celebration as a new family complete in GILMORE GIRLS on The CW. My brother is always the hardest person to buy for on my list, but you can’t go wrong with a fun game he can play with friends, or one of the items off of this great gift idea list.

For your grandparents…

I don’t know about you, but my grandmothers have a lot of stuff. For the last few Christmases, all three of my grandmothers (yes, I’m a lucky girl and have three!), have told us all that they didn’t want any more “stuff”. So my family and I started giving them things that were consumable, and they love it. (And it’s super cheap!)

  • A batch of their favorite cookies, cupcakes, peanut brittle, etc.
    • Find some fun Christmas cookie recipes here!
  • A sweet smelling soap (Bath & Body Works has great deals this time of the year!)

Good luck on your finals and happy gift-giving!

Mega-fangirl for all things boyband, Taylor Swift, & bacon. I find inspiration in traveling, rain, and days spent at the lake, and am obsessed with Kentucky Basketball, the east coast, and Elie Saab fashion. In everyday life I am a college student who is most excited by the possibility of getting Sonic mozzarella sticks & reading real books that you can hold in your hands.
