BAD DAYS, BE GONE!

Everyone has those days when you feel like everything about life pretty much sucks and you’re just in a funk all day long. Believe me; I’ve had my fair share of crappy days. On my bad days, I used to have the worst attitude and the most negative outlook on everything, which just made the bad day worse than it already was. I finally realized that my attitude was just making bad days worse for myself so I decided to stop making myself more miserable and to start trying to make the day better.

Writing is such a great way to let out your emotions. It’s one of the first things I do when I’m having a bad day. It’s great to be able to write down all the things you feel instead of keeping those feelings all bottled up. I definitely feel loads better after writing everything down. It feels like a weight is lifted off of my shoulders because I was able to say what I felt without having to let people in on all my business. If I’m having a bad day because I’m upset at someone, one of my favorite things to do is write a “fake letter” to them, yell at them in the letter, and then tear it up. It’s very therapeutic.

Baking is another remedy for a bad day. Moving around the kitchen, gathering ingredients and focusing on not burning the house down is a really good way to take your mind off of things. Also, you get to eat some of what you baked so basically it’s a winning solution. It’s the holiday season, too, so there is a huge selection of fun holiday goodies to experiment with. Just the thought of festive baked goods automatically lifts my spirits tenfold.

Usually on bad days, don’t you just want to be left alone? ME TOO! But sometimes that’s the worst thing you can do to yourself. I’ve found that on my bad days, my friends are sometimes the one thing I need to help me feel better. Give your friends a ring and invite them over! You don’t have to go out, just have a sleepover or hang out at one of your houses. Friends are truly blessings.

Another thing that helps me feel a little less bleh on days that just aren’t working out in my favor is getting all dolled up for no good reason. It’s the perfect way to practice my makeup and hair skills, and who doesn’t feel good when their makeup is on point? When I get dolled up I might even be able to take a bomb selfie, and any day that I manage to get a nice selfie is a DAMN GOOD day.

Having a total jam out session is probably my most fool-proof cure for any and every bad day. Put on super upbeat music, turn it all the way up and start dancing and prancing around like you’re Harry Styles. Being silly and just letting yourself get lost in the music is the best way to distance yourself from your sad thoughts. Let loose, try to have fun and you’ll see that life isn’t as bad as it seems. A few of my favorite mood lifting songs are ‘Kiss You’ by One Direction, ‘Salute’ by Little Mix, ‘Burnin’ Up’ by the Jonas Brothers (major throwback), ‘Cuckoo’ by Adam Lambert and ‘She’s Kinda Hot’ by 5 Seconds of Summer.

Jamming out and working out go hand in hand for getting through a bad day. Get moving and focus on what your body is doing rather than laying in bed and being miserable. It feels good to just to let all that bad energy go and get your body moving. You’ll feel so much better and relaxed after you break a sweat. Go for a run or jog, punch the life out of a punching bag, plank until your abs are crying, just do something!

This last tip is for my fangirls out there. What better way to lift your spirits than to get on Twitter and crack a few jokes with your Twitter friends? Have a ridiculous conversation about your fav, go on a gif/pic spree and get your mutuals’ right in their feels, get on Vine and browse through all the really awesome edits, go on Tumblr and read those really deep text posts about what it could be like to have Harry Styles as a boyfriend (check out this article by Miss Rae, too!), go read a fanfic (here are some of my favorites). There are so many entertaining things you can do as a fangirl to get your mind out of a funk.

Even though there are a lot of things you can do to make your bad day better, sometimes all you really need is to have a good crying session. Sometimes you just have to ride out your bad days and start fresh the next day. I try to remember that for every bad day, there is an equally good day. Sometimes life is a pain in the ass and there’s not much you can do about that besides trying to stay optimistic. Life is good. Life is a blessing. There’s bound to be ups and downs, but the downs don’t have to be the end of the world.
