If you haven’t heard of Marissa Lace, let me be the first to introduce you to her. She is a YouTuber with over 200k followers. Marissa recently moved to Seattle to get away from a toxic situation all around and she is taking us with her. You can find more about her move and other great stuff on her YouTube channel and other social media outlets. The ONE thing you really should be following Marissa on is Snapchat!
2015 wasn’t the best year for Marissa. She managed to get out of a toxic relationship, lost some “friends” and moved out of LA (which she thought was adding to the problem). She packed up, moved to Seattle and started over. Marissa started the #YearofYou to rediscover her self love. After watching her videos for years, I can tell by the way she carries herself that she is in a much happier place and that is all due to loving herself. She even took a trip to Bali not to long ago to help shape the woman she wants to be. That was definitely added to my bucket list! She encourages all her followers to be apart of #YearofYou and love yo self!
- Brody and Hailey
There is nothing I love more in this world (besides myself!) than dogs. Brody and Hailey are the most adorable little dogs. Hailey is HBIC and carries it well. Brody is just a little cuddle bug with spikey hair. I look forward to seeing a glimpse of these love bugs daily.
I’ve never been to Seattle, but it looks like a beautiful place. Not to mention that everything you need is right there in the city. Marissa is currently doing a vegan challenge (Yay Marissa!) and has a plethora of grocery shopping and restaurants to choose from to make life a little easier. Coming from a vegan who lives in small town, that is huge! Although it tends to rain a lot, the city seems incredible from Marissa’s point of view.
I first started following Marissa on YouTube because she was following ‘If It Fits Your Macros’ and I was looking into that particular diet. She used to be a religious gym goer, but has since changed her ways. Her motto now is “as long as your moving, you are good!” She encourages you to do whatever workout you like— whether it’s lifting, yoga, Zumba or even dancing around your kitchen. Just move your body.
Marissa swears by having 15 minutes in the morning to yourself to get ready for the day. She likes to mediate and journal. She has a stack of journals she writes in and posts pics of the entry (pre-writing). Marissa recommends her followers to screenshot it so that they too can answer and reflect on their thoughts. I look forward to those posts because it helps me reevaluate myself and my situations.
This creative girl has many talents— one of them is the ability to decorate. I catch myself drooling whenever I see any glimpse of her apartment. She keeps everything neat and clean. No need for a Pinterest board when you can stalk her Instagram and follow her Snapchat of course. She even has a mediation nook in her apartment, how cool is that?!
- Girl Power
There’s nothing more powerful than a group of best friends. Marissa has had her share of ups and downs, but that has only showed her what she is looking for in her relationships. She chooses to surround herself with people that are positive and those who only want what’s best for her. I think this is an important lesson every girl has to learn the hard way.
- Makeup Inspo
Marissa has flawless makeup and hair, like, all the time. Even when she has her face masks on, her beauty shines through. Luckily for us she is also a beauty guru so she makes tutorials on how to achieve her fabulous look. Not only is she a stunner on the outside, but she’s a beauty on the inside.
- Food Envy
Like I mentioned before, Marissa lives in downtown Seattle so she has what seems like an endless supply of choices when it comes to restaurants and grocery stores. She is sure to share what she is having for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner to give us some inspiration for our meals and to makes us jealous.
- Just for being Marissa
Whether you’ve been a fan of hers for a while or you just heard about her from this article, Marissa is an incredible role model for women of all ages. She is brave enough to share her discoveries (not mistakes) and bold enough to take charge of her life. The world could use a lot more people like Marissa. Screenshot the snap code and you’ll understand what i’m talking about!
